Pannesamt is a special modification of the classic velvet, which is manufactured in different ways and thus has other material properties. The basis of Pannesamt are classic velvet fabrics, so in the feel as well as the transparency is ordinary velvet of Pannesamt indistinguishable. In the production of non-woven, but rolled velvet fabric pressing the pile, the basic fabric of loose fibers takes place. This is done with the addition of heat, comparable to the effect of iron, which is referred to as panning. The result is a glittering or mirroring effect on one side. The regional name Mirror Office goes into this fact, the so-called designated dissemination cylum makes clear, for which this noble and fine material was used mainly a century ago. Panne velvet is relatively stable and thus remarkably elastic, which is not only in the textile industry a simple processing. Pannesamt has established itself in the field of floristry and decoration, and is often used to design bouquets, decorative bowls and floral arrangements. The easily malleable material fills in smaller holes in the optics of an arrangement and ensures by its reflective effect for an additional, visual enrichment.
