Botanical Garden B like botany A botanical garden is a special urban setting that is a piece of untouched nature and holds a variety of trees, flowers and other plants for scientific research or pure aesthetic enrichment. Many botanical gardens that are currently being discovered in Germany have their roots either in the university or religious environment and have often been cultivated by botanists or monks for decades or centuries. A botanical garden distinguishes itself from the classical agriculture, since the intention of such a garden does not lie in the economic use. Although traditional crops such as potatoes or tomatoes are often planted here, a botanical garden is more about presenting the numerous genera and species. If the climatic conditions permit, plants are deliberately used in a botanical garden that are not found in the wild in the respective country and should therefore enable research on foreign plants of other nations and continents. Since most botanical gardens are still scientifically designed today, signs supplement the individual plants and teach important content about the particular species or botany in general. As a scientific educational path, botanical gardens are not only a relaxing place in the urban environment, but also a popular destination for school classes or university courses.
